What are the common mistakes and how to avoid?
To help you write better in English, here are the most common mistakes people make that you should avoid –
· It’s Vs Its
“It’s” is the contraction or short form of it is or it has, while “its” without an apostrophe is a possessive pronoun.
· Their, They’re and There
“Their” is a possessive pronoun, “there is the contraction of they are, while “there” refers to a place or can be used as a pronoun introducing a sentence or a clause.
· Your Vs You’re
Your is a possessive pronoun while “you’re” is the contraction of you are.
· Would of/would have or could of/could have
Would have or could have is correct, would of or could of is never correct. This mistake is commonly made because when we say “could have/would have”, it sounds like “could of/would of”.
